About the Band:
Dandelion Wine is a darkwave / dark folk band. Hailing from Melborne Australia, Naomi Henderson and Nicholas Albanis beautifully mix flutes, female fronted vox, keyboards, and an array of non-traditional instruments (including the hammered dulcimer, lute, and mandolin) and an occasional guitar. Guest musicians round out the instrument mix by providing the violin and cello parts on many of their tracks.
Described as ethereal post-dreampop, their sound can be also characterized as being reminiscent of the more simplistic joys and sounds people may have experienced of summers long gone. Naturally I wonder if there is also a connection to science-fiction author Ray Bradbury's semi-autobiography Dandelion Wine By Ray Bradbury. The band came to my attention when Naomi noticed I had similar band interests on my MySpace page and pleasantly invited me to sample their music. I tried them out and was very excited to see them live at the 2007 Wave Gotik Treffen, where true to their promises they combine modern folk elements with a dash of darkwave electronics to deliver an enjoyable ambient dreampop like sound.
