Refreshingly, this twenty-three year old bard succeeds in avoiding the many sonic cliches her genre peers endlessly rehash. Méndez has the originality and straightforwardness of the seasoned autodidact. Moreover, for her debut CD she collaborates with notables of Switzerland's indie scene. Her tender, melancholic songs breathe throughout and put a spell on the listener.
