Excellent collection of the early Jamaican popular music known as mento drawn from the vaults of Stanley Motta between the years 1951 and 1956. A uniquely Jamaican variant of the Trinidadian calypso style, many of the themes and lyrical concerns, often presented in humorous and risqué fashion by the artists concerned, still occur throughout the reggae music of today. Pure delight!
