Semisonic besteht derzeit aus den Band-Mitgliedern Dan Wilson, John Munson und Jacob Slichter. Dabei wurde die Gruppe von verschiedenen Künstlern und Bands wie bspw. Foo Fighters, Big Star und The BoDeans beeinflusst. Der Musikstil von Semisonic erinnert an ähnliche Rock-Bands, wie The Goo Goo Dolls, Better Than Ezra oder Fastball
