...I have been a rock fan since I was 12 years old and this album was one of my favourites back in the early days of my love affair with rock.
My cd collection has been stored away for the last 10 years so i had forgotten all about this little gem. I recently listened to it for the first time in years and not only did it blow me away it brought back so many fond memories of my teenage years.
This album is classic in my eyes.
It has it all, hard rocking riffs, chunky guitars and some awesome drumming. the vocal is a delightful assault on the ears. It always amazes me how such awesome albums and bands can slip by the way side and never make it big.
Not only does this album rock hard it has much more originality than some of the current bands that churn out the same stuff every album.
if it wasn't for the swearing my family would be listening to it too.
If you like your rock music then this album has to be in your collection.
5 stars8 truly superb tracks from this vastly underrated rock band!
Cecil, Bombar Diddlah - Back in October of 1996, the British rockers 'Cecil' released their debut album "Bombar Diddlah." The album saw the release of two singles with the tracks "No Excuses" and "My Neck." Released through EMI Records, the eight track album was set to show the public exactly what the group were all about.
The album starts off by setting the pace with the track "Dream Awake" that delivers a harsh British rock sound with a slight pop edge and dominating melodic undertones. From here we are treated to the fast-paced, guitar-heavy track "The Plastics Keep Coming" that is nothing but a monstrous, meaty-riffed, rock track. Next we have the quieter, atmospheric track "Spirit Level" that shows the group's diverse nature to their music. The track is beautiful and haunting, which is a far cry from the previous two tracks.
Track four is my personal favourite Cecil track...ever! "Upside Down Smile" is nothing but sheer grunge rock genius. If you haven't yet heard the band, this is the track that will convert you. For me, this track is what really makes the album. Chunky guitars, blasting drums and a rockin' melody that sticks in your head.
The album continues with the haunting track "Fishes", the devastating, energy-filled "My Neck", the rock anthem "No Excuses" and finally the epic 6min 13sec track "Poshinalagweedy" that builds from a quiet, emotional-charged whisper to a bursting explosion of an ending.
All in all, the album is packed with eight truly superb tracks from this vastly underrated rock outfit. If you haven’t already done so, go out and buy yourself a copy.
