" "Government Comissions" führt die BBC Radio Sessions von Mogwai auf einem Album zusammen. Dabei ist ein erstaunlich homogenes Album entstanden, was nicht zuletzt der ausgezeichneten Aufnahmequalität der BBC zu verdanken ist. Mit der 18-minütigen Version von "Like Herod" ist ein klares Highlight auszumachen, nicht zuletzt weil hier die Spannungsbögen der Komposition in epischer Breite erlebbar sind. Über Jahre bei verschiedenen Sessions entstanden, ist das Album für viele Fans das "heimliche, alternative Best-Of-Album", welches die Band bis zu "Central Belters" schuldig blieb."
