Have you ever found yourself wanting to listen to a certain sound, but do not know where to find? I have! I haven't found it yet, but something for the journey: Nanaco! And I think she is also searching!
Luminous Love in 23 is as abstract as it's title. After ten listens you will still not know how to describe her sound, but you will not forget her haunting, yet inviting voice, as it whispers like a ghost through a range of tracks, each different, although all sharing a certain kind of funk - like the vertebrae running through a body.
Take some wine/whisky, or a joint, and take a little carpet ride into a world without limits or definitions!
Having Robin Guthrie (ex Cocteau Twins) as a muse and producer lends to the ethereal and mysterious flow of Luminous Love, and keeps it from sliding into sameness, instead, keeping your ears perked up with it's challenging tempo changes and paradigm shifts!
It is almost impossible to describe the album without descending into "waffle" or critic-speak, but if you appreciate the ability to be yourself without compromising then you will appreciate the label-less sounds of Luminous Love in 23!!!
